I dismissed Antar upon the initial spray and had to give this some proper wearings for 2 weeks straight only to discover that this is one remarkable perfume. I am so floored with this and am smitten to pieces. The complexity is mind boggling because the wearer will be rewarded for hours with endless goodies hitting those olfactories depending on body temp and where you’ve applied. For the first hour, sometimes it’s a tad stinky oudy, and then suede and leather. Sometimes I can smell patchouli with sandalwood and more suede on top of suede, and other times it’s creamy/waxy from cyclamen flower with just a hint floral and ambery. Other times it’s incense all the way. The sillage is ever changing.
I’ll probably have to deplete a whole bottle just to pin down Antar but so far, this is a winner. I’m perplexed though in the color choice that Nabeel chose for the super cool bottle and box because to my nose, this comes across as a baby blue/turquoise and hardly anything that smells green. This is a blue perfume through and through however, the sea notes do not dominate and are very well blended. Overall the whole affair is silky and smooth, kinda powdery with a killer musky/oudy dry down that lasts until the following day and yes, Antar does contain a decent dose of agarwood.
Really, there is so much going on here simultaneously that this review does no justice for Antar. One must wear this numerous times to even begin to grasp how complex and dynamic Antar really is. And forget the low price point because that doesn’t correlate one bit to the nose candy you’re about to experience. You could pour this concoction into one of those ludicrously priced niche bottles and get the same effect.
Mind you that I am not a ‘blue’ perfume wearing kinda guy, nor do I gravitate towards anything blue or designeresque for that matter but nevertheless, Antar really swept me off of my feet because this aroma is so pleasurable and inviting with a dominant narcotic, intoxicating chord that keeps you coming back for more and more. It truly is an addicting scent that invokes the ‘nose to wrist’ compulsion. I don’t like to compare but for fun sakes and to my nose, Antar is a far more complex and buttery version of Chanel’s Bleu eau de parfum crossed with Swiss Arabian’s Pure Instinct.
The atomizer is top that sprays the perfect amount in a perfect spray pattern. I love this aroma so much that I had to order a concentrated perfume oil of Antar. I’m waiting with baited breath for that to arrive.
Also, and most importantly… Dem Fragrances is awesome! Shipping was on point. I do recommend shopping here and I will definitely order from them again in the near future. Thanks Dem Fragrances!
